The annual Miss Ghana pageant which is supposed to be the country’s foremost beauty pageant will not come off this year as the pageant’s organisation changes hands.
According to sources, the pageant’s organisation is changing hands from Media Whizz Kids who has been at the helm of organising the pageant for several years now to Exclusive Events Ghana, a corporate, social and personal events management and production outfit.
The source said the announcement of the takeover is expected to be made at a press conference in Accra on October 4.
When DJ OXYGEN EMPIRE got the News they contacted another source at Media Whizz Kids, who wanted to remain anonymous, he confirmed that the pageant will not come off this year affirming also that organisation of the pageant will change hands: “It’s true ... it will not come on this year.”
He said the changeover, which he said has nothing to do with this year’s event not coming off, will definitely come on but could not give details of the name of the new organisers and reasons why the change is taking place.
The source however stressed that Media Whizz Kids will not relinquish total organisation of the pageant to the new organisers as they will continue to play a key role in making the event better.
Asked the fate of last year’s winner, Stephanie Karikari, the source said she will continue to be a ‘ceremonial’ Miss Ghana who will continue to ‘enjoy privileges’ till a new one is crowned.
He said Stephanie will represent Ghana at the 2011 Miss World and is expected to leave the country for that pageant on October 19. This year’s Miss World finale is scheduled for London on November 6.
