SARKODIE LIVE IN CONCERT – RAPPERHOLIC
25TH DECEMBER,2011
THE DOME (AICC)
————————————————————————————————————
Sarkodie, known in real life as Michael Owusu, is a hiplife/hiphop artist making a whole lot of waves on the music scene both locally and internationally. He has a unique ability to string several words together in a very fast pace and this has put him on an exclusive class of his own, differentiating him from most of the usual and regular artistes known for their synonyms. He derives his inspiration from one of Ghana’s own living legend Obrafour who’s “pae mu Ka” album remains one of his all-time favourite. He sees himself as an effective communicator and believes rap is a way of communication, with which a lot of relevant information is spread across within the shortest possible time. Hailed as Ghana’s fastest rapper, his debut album “MAAKYE” scooped 5 major awards at the 2010 Ghana Music Awards and got nominated for the Best Anglophone Act in the 2010 MTV Africa Music Awards. Come Sunday, the 25th of December, 2011, Sarkodie seeks to make history with “RAPPERHOLIC” as he takes centre stage at the Dome inside the Accra International Conference Centre in an unprecedented show, purposely put together by Event Factory with the aid of his able management Duncwills Entertainment. On that day, Ghana’s fastest rapper with support from virtually every known artiste he’s ever had a collaboration with together with other hit makers will thrill fans to never-seen-before exclusive entertaining performances that will leave a lasting memory. He will also use the platform to officially launch his second album “RAPPERHOLIC”. Already, Five singles have been released from the ‘Rapperholic’ album ‘Good Bye’, ‘One Time For Your Mind’, ‘You Go Kill Me’, ‘Living Legend’ and ‘Onyame Nhyira’ which featured artistes such as Muggees of R2Bees, EL, Kesse and Castro. Sarkodie believes that the modern populace prefer to stay abreast with global issues rather in a fast and relaxed manner and for that matter, he sort the need to outline all commercial songs to fit into the societal preference. Sarkodie has immense passion for orphans and has performed for free at concerts to raise funds for needy children and community projects as a whole. He has also had the opportunity to grace occasions with world leaders and foreign dignitaries from the World Bank, United Nations, GTZ and other multinational agencies.
He believes that success is a reciprocal product of hard work, determination, discipline and the Fear of God. He always acknowledges his success to God and his constructive critics. This event is the first of it kind put together for a Ghanaian artiste in his prime. The primary objective is to celebrate a living legend whiles promoting our local music. We will like to say a big thank you to rLG for their immense support without which this event wouldn’t have come on. We will also like to say a big thank you to all other media houses and individual devoted to this cause.
Thank you.
