I Just Love To Sing, But I Sing More Than I Love It

THE BIOGRAPHY
"Like the way he grabs the mic...with lots of style, and powerful notes to strike...
Ready to make all and sundry falls for it and like...so is his lifestyle...
Intertwined with perseverance to reach for the best and humor to make you sigh...
In simple words, he's got a unique profile...one that Ghana music is yet to see."

At a very tender age Agyemang Kofi Offeh (known in show biz as NINO),had  love for music and made it captured his heart and mind; he was so engrossed in it that even when playing football with friends, he will be singing alongside. His concentration will be on the notes instead but not the ball. Music was and is still his cherished hobby and talent. Little did he know that his cherished hobby (music/singing) will one day become a sort after (sacred and scarce) 'commodity' of man? He grew up mastering his talent with less difficulty because music was like brushing the teeth.

Nino's hobby and talent came to the limelight when he joined the Adventist Prep School choir; he was one of the best soloists to have appeared in that choir. Before leaving the school as a Junior High School graduate, he represented Kumasi in the year 2002-2003, and was adjudged the best singer at the national choral competition. Nino has since that time become very vital and a force to reckon with in every choir he joins.

Nino continued his powerful renditions in his Secondary school days in Prempeh College. He was part of the famous trio on campus (Kunta.Tintin.Scobo…KTS). Nino is not only a musician; he has also graduated with Bachelor of Business Administration honors in banking and finance at Valley View University. It was at Valley View University that he realized it was time for him to tell and show the world what he's got in him. His love for music pushed him to form an Accapella singing group among his peers. He did not relent on his efforts, he continued by forming another strong and talented choir (the minstrel choir) with the children of the lecturers of the University. In fact, his name is still on the lips of those who saw him and have also seen him perform on various platforms-…”he’s got to perform on bigger stage like the Ghana music awards”…said a student at one the shows organize by NINO and his crew (vitae inc.).

All forms of music genres are at his fingertips, be it Classical, Soul, RnB, Jazz, Highlife, Accapella or Choral music. The most intriguing part is, whether in English, Twi or French language the output is always fantastic. He sang and continues to sing with passion and zeal. “Anytime he sang the whole campus was move”…another student reiterated. A lot of stars in the music industry has endorsed him; Morris De Voice, Jay Ghartey, Kunta kinte of Bradez fame knows him best, that is to mention but a few.
He also realized his leadership qualities and organizational abilities in the same environment. He was the organizing secretary for the Business Administration Students Association from 2010-2011 academic year. During his time as the organizer, the association saw massive improvements in its activities in terms of proper management and program organization.

Jay-Z Bans the B-Word; Big Deal!

In an entry at Just Khaotic, Dr. Boyce Watkins uses harsh analogies to underscore his disgust with Jay-Z's announcement that he will stop using the word "bitch" in his rhymes after having a baby girl. He should have stopped 20 years ago, Watkins writes.
... You can’t spend two decades referring to other men’s daughters as b*tches and hoes, and then somehow decide that your own daughter is going to be exempt from the game. You, my brother, have given nearly every inch of your creative productivity toward murdering your daughter’s self and public image before she was even born. In other words, you brought Blue Ivy Carter into a world where most of your biggest fans will look at her and refer to her not as daddy’s little princess, but instead as a dirty little b*tch.  I fact, they will even get paid for it.
Jay-Z trying to ban the word b*tch after giving birth to a girl is like a mass murderer asking other killers to be nice to his relatives.  His music has helped to infect the world with the virus of misogyny, and now he wants to act like the Center for Disease Control.  He’s like the homophobic pastor who leads anti-gay lynch mobs and later finds out that his own son is gay.  It’s actually quite funny if you think about it.
Perhaps Jay-Z will now learn the frustrations of millions of other fathers who’ve been long hurt that so many hip-hop artists have trained black men to show the utmost disrespect for their little girls.  He will know what it’s like to have a “tatted up” Jay-Z/Lil Wayne wannabe earn his daughter’s loyalty because he convinces her that she can’t do any better.  He will spend the remainder of his years reaping everything he’s spent his life sowing, and end up paying the piper handsomely after getting rich by teaching other men to hate his child ...

Ghana Music Award Festival Restructured

Three new categories have been added to this year’s Ghana movie awards ceremony dubbed Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA). This is part of a restructuring process to present a controversial free award ceremony in 2012.

The categories include Gospel Album of the Year, Group of the Year and Sound Engineer Of the Year, which was defined as engineer adjudged by peers and the VGMA Board (Planning Committee) to be the sound engineer directly responsible for the recording, mastering and technical treatment of a nominated song during the year under review.

The Gospel Album of the Year category was defined as an album adjudged by the award’s Academy (Selection Committee) and Board as the most outstanding compilation of hit Gospel songs that was released during the year under review. It must have generated the most excitement during the year.

The Group of the Year was explained as artistes adjudged by the Academy, Board and the general public as the group with the highest audience appeal and popularity. They must comprise of at least two (2) or more members and must have released a hit single/album during the year under review.

The announcement was made known at a press conference organised by Charterhouse on Thursday at GH ONE premises, to inform the media about some changes in this year’s event. The ceremony was also used to unveil the award’s Technical Review team which consists of Amandzeba, George Gyimah (Phamous Philms), Nacy (No Tribe), Kwame Faakye, Kiki Banson, Bessa Simons, Richie Mensah (Lynx), Diana Hopeson, Abraham Ohene Gyan, Fred Kyei Mensah, David Kyei (Kaywa) and Joseph Addison (Killbeat).

The rest were Sammy Forson, Okyeame Kwame, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, Paul Nuamah Donkor (Jay So), Appiah Dankwa (Appiatus) and DJ Andy Dosty.
Currently, the number of award categories has shot up from 26 to 29 categories. The categories for the VGMA were also reviewed to include 15 Public Voting categories, 12 Industry Voting Categories and 3 Honorary Categories.

Generally, there had been some significant changes. The term ‘commercial release’ was redefined to take cognizance of new digital channels of music distribution, for example Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and RBT/CRBT.

As a result, the word ‘commercial’ was dropped because some of the channels are non-commercial e.g. Twitter, Youtube etc.
The VGMA Calendar year has also changed from November to December 1 2010 to December 31, 2011.  Hence,
to be eligible for the VGMA 2012, an artiste’s work should have been released from December 1, 2010 to December 31, 2011.

Meanwhile, the VGMA will maintain the 3-tier voting system of the public, the VGMA Academy and the VGMA Board. With Public Voting Awards, the public has 40% votes, VGMA Academy (Selection Committee) – 30%, and the VGMA Board (Planning Committee) – 30%.

Industry Voting Awards comes with 50% for VGMA Academy and another 50% for VGMA Board. Honorary Awards: VGMA Board – 100%. Sound Engineer, Music Video, Music Producer: VGMA Board and Peer voting and finally Most Popular Song will be decided by Public – 100%.

Other new changes in the voting system include the addition of new channels including online voting via www.ghanamusicawards.com and voting on mobile phone via short code.

Charterhouse, organizers of the award ceremony, announced that it has opened up entries for nominations and nomination forms have been circulated nationwide since January 1 and will last through to January 21. The award ceremony will be held in April after a huge nominations party very soon.

Kwaw Kese And The Madness Robbed

Controversial hiplife musician, Kwaw Kese popularly known as Abodam has been robbed, Sunday dawn by an unknown assailants at his residence at the Manet Gardens at Spintex.
The incident took place at about 4:30 am when the artiste and four other occupants of the three-bedroom apartment were asleep.
According to Kwaw, known in real life as Emmanuel Abrompah Botchwey, the assailants “broke through one of the windows and took two laptops (including a Mac Book Pro) and an iPod.”
He told Myjoyonline.com they did not see the assailants but were certain that they could be coming from the neighborhood.
The King of the Streets further narrated that, the thieves used a glued stick to pick the laptops and subsequently pulled them through the window, saying that but for an alarm from one of the occupants of the house the burglars would have made away with all four laptops.
He said the laptops contained several important materials including yet to be released works – songs and videos – which are “worth thousands of dollars. It is worth a lot.”
Asked if he had reported the incident to the police, Kwaw was quick to say, “I think the society can help me better,” calling on his fans and the general public to be vigilant to help him get his laptop – which is being protected by a password and has his images on it at the back.
He explained that although he believes the police can work on the case for him, “it takes a whole lot of time” to get results adding, “I want my thing now … the world should help me find it.”

Lord Kenya declares ‘War’ on drugs

Former Hip-life star and now Gospel Musician, Abraham Philip Akor Kojo Kenya, popularly known as Lord Kenya, had told The Globe Newspaper that his heart bleeds for many Hip life musicians who according to him continue to use drugs.

Lord Kenya who is now a preacher based in Kumasi said he keeps praying for such Musicians and hopes they would encounter God and repent.

He said, “a lot of them (musicians) use drugs and even when I was singing no one knew I was on drugs”.

Lord Kenya who is now dedicated to the Lord says it is sometimes difficult to identify musicians who really do drugs until it become obvious, adding that the effect is severe.

He alluded the practice of drug use to works of the devil; “That’s how bad the devil can act and deceive people”, he said. The talented 33-year old musician reflected on how he became a drug addict saying “In my case I was introduced to it by my friends.

I started from one roll then I realized that oh that is okay, and gradually I was just taking it on daily basis then it became hourly and minutes…”

He cautioned Musicians who have resorted to alcohol to desist from alcoholism.

According to him drug addiction starts from alcoholism, “it all starts from becoming an alcoholic and becoming adaptive to other destructive substances”, he said.

Lord Kenya who is now focusing on his calling to preach the Gospel is bent on winning the souls of his fellow musicians for God and sees that as his greatest task on earth. Lord Kenya added that he has not abandoned his music career, but he is now focused on gospel music.

Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Makes Exciting Changes To Award Scheme

In April 2010, I did a feature titled ‘How to break the Charter House hold on GMAs’, in which I talked about a number of ways to make the award scheme more of a people’s choice award and to improve its credibility at large. After a review of the scheme last year, when Vodafone took over as title sponsors, I am excited to say that majority of my concerns in that feature have been addressed. Although I called for 100% voting power for the general public, the review committee has now given 40% to the public in lieu of the previous 30%.
The review sees the formation of two new bodies, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Board and Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Academy, which will steer the selection, categorization and voting in the scheme. Both bodies will have 30% stake each in the decision of winners for the awards in the public voting categories; and 50% each in the industry voting categories. The honorary awards will be decided 100% by the VGMA Board, while the Most Popular Song of the Year is decided 100% by the public. The Award for Sound Engineer, Music Video, and Music Producer will be decided by VGMA Board and peer voting.
Other new changes in the voting system include the addition of new channels including Online voting via www.ghanamusicawards.com (limited per IP address), and voting on mobile phone via short code (limited to 20 texts per mobile number). My problem with this for now is that if online voted is limited per IP addresses, then votes from public internet cafes would pose a problem and prevent subsequent voting by other users.
The categories for the VGMA were also reviewed to include 15 Public Voting categories, 12 Industry Voting Categories and 3 Honorary Categories. The newly created categories, which are reintroductions from past schemes, are Gospel Album of the Year, Group of the Year, and Sound Engineer of the Year.
The review also expanded eligibility for the VGMA by taking cognizance of new digital channels of music distribution e.g. Facebook, twitter, RBT/CRBT as such, the word “Commercial’ was dropped because some of the channels are non commercial e.g. Twitter, Youtube etc. Thus a release now refers to any musical work that can be obtained officially through Digital web or Mobile downloads, CD, VCD, DVD and Cassette purchases. To be eligible for a VGMA 2012 the work should have been released from 1st December 2010 – 31st December 2011.
The VGMA Board will compile all entries received into the appropriate categories and will shortlist them into the final nominations list which will be published for public and industry voting. Submission of entries and nominations are currently ongoing and the public can nominate their favourite artists and songs on www.ghanamusicawards.com.
I sincerely hope that these new changes and future changes would go a long way to improve the award scheme. www.dcreisempire.co.nr

Eazzy Releases Single For Strippers

Sensational performer and arguably one of the biggest female artiste on recent times has made the headlines for quite a varying number of reasons.
As the debate pends on as to whether she is leaving Lynx” or not, we are rather caught in some of the lyrics of her new single “Go Go wind”. The question that comes to the mind of any impartial observer is “Is Eazzy a “Go Go Wind” dancer?
A “go go wind” dancer is for lack of words a “stripper” or “poll dancer”. The sassy diva who paused on releasing singles to focus on the business side of her career, has resurfaced with a hot dancehall banger and a statement.
The song “go go wind” features dancehall new comer Jupita and is currently one of the most played songs on radio making the comeback and the hype that came with it worth its allowance. As more questions stand unanswered, we will indulge the public as we seek answers to whether the song could be a relatable life story of the singer?
In a related development, a lot of buzz seems to be going on about the unprecedented video shoot tour dubbed the “Go Go Wind Tour”. The tour which is set for 4 cities will engage fans and make them a formidable part of the brand they so support.

Home Music Buzz Fillas Lifestyle Videos Upload Music Fashion RSS Feed Singer Raquel Is Female Musician Who Exposed Her Private Parts On Stage

Sensational singer Raquel has been identified as the Ghanaian artiste who exposed her genitalia live on stage in-front of a crowd of over 2000, at the just ended Decemba2Rememba (D2R) 2011 hiplife concert, on Christmas Eve at the main hall of the Accra International Conference Centre.
The incident occurred when the “Sweetio”singer, dressed to kill in a sea blue silky straight attire, appeared on stage without any panties and gave free viewing access to her sex organ whiles she was performing on stage. Even though the back of her sleeveless dress was okay, lengthwise, the front was cut too low; above her knee and midway to her hips.
When Raquel was happily singing her latest smash hit “Sweetio” which featured Sarkodie, she allegedly positioned herself in such a way that some members in the audience, especially on the front row including Peacefmonline.com’s Entertainment Reporter, Eugene Osafo-Nkansah, Stone of GTV, and Nana Yaw of Nanayaw18.com amongst others, were left with no choice than to feast their eyes on something else.

Delay talks on stripping allegation?

Showbiz icon Delores Frimpong-Manso, popularly known as Delay, has responded to a News-One publication that she was involved in a secret strip-tease business in Milan, Italy.
Though Delay had gone wild with anger when News-One first reached her over the story and she directed the paper to speak to her lawyers, she made a quick u-turn after the publication, agreeing to speak to the paper after the story made the headlines. “Yes I was in Milan and I went to a couple of clubs in the area you are talking about but I never stripped naked. I danced all right because every normal person would sway to good music but I never did a strip tease. It was a personal dance I did and let her who has never visited a club to enjoy good music throw the first stone at me,” Delay told News-One in a telephone interview.
When asked what her mission in Milan was, Delay said she had the constitutional right to visit any country of her choice without seeking permission from any media house, News-One included.
“I saw her myself. I was in a club at Corso Buenos Aires and she was there with three other girls. They were all dancing strip tease and I gathered that was why she slimmed down so as to boost her market,” a source from Milan told News-One, and this was the basis on which the story was put out.
When Delay was initially contacted by the paper and asked whether she was recently in Milan, her response was positive. She was then asked if she ever visited a club at Corso Buenos Aires and again her response was positive. The paper then asked if the club was a strip club and suddenly Delay was furious and said the paper should direct the questions at her lawyer.
Meanwhile, Delay, on her trip to Milan, did not travel with her lawyer. She later sent a text message to the paper’s Editor threatening to go to court if he went ahead with the story. As at the time of going to bed with the story, Delay had still not provided an answer on whether or not she indeed stripped and danced in the club.

ADEZ’s (MENOTR 2 PRODIGY) SECRET RELATIONSHIP WITH STONEBWOY EXPOSED: STONEBWOY CHEATS ON ADEZ WITH ADEZ’S COUSIN!

“Issues about love have always been betrayed”, Machiavelli, the Florence philosopher could be described as a sure predictor in this case.
It is so unfortunate a loyal singer and the heart of many music lovers, Adezoa Stokes (formerly of Mentor 2 fame) has fallen victim to this statement.

When the story about Adez’s secret relationship with Stonebwoy, the ghetto love hit maker, surfaced, it became a very difficult task following the proceedings of the relationship. If anyone told me journalism had this tedious task, I would have looked elsewhere. Being a secret relationship, the two (Adez and Stonebuoy) kept their togetherness from the public domain in order to give fans mirage of the tittle-tattle.

Investigation by this reporter had scanty information about the relationship. Adezoa Stokes, who has been through all the phases of music (from live band music, backing of songs of Kojo Antwi and Hugh Masekela, Stars of the future and Mentor 2 reality shows) who fell in love with the reggae demon, Stonebwoy, had the best of time in the very beginning of their love life. As always, the beginning is sweeter and the end justifies the means was a measure gauge statement for these two love birds. Unknowingly for Adez who many big names in the showbiz describe as a lady who has paid her dues in the music industry, Stonebuoy was in a secret relationship with her cousin (name withheld). Suspicion about the relationship of Stonebuoy and Adez’s cousin grew stronger in the instinct of Adez. In order not to be a possessive lover, Adez in her usual charming voice woke her “soon to be husband” in the middle of their sleep and told him about her recent feeling which Stonebwoy denied in an anger. “You listen to your friends so much, ahhh! What kind of woman are you?” Stonebuoy rhetorically asked Adez. “Whenever I call you, a woman picks up and you always say she is your sister. I know all of your sisters and which of them is that who can’t mention my name when she picks the call. Or you haven’t even saved my name on your phone?” she asked Stonebwoy. These words of the two were heard in a secret recording. The tape about this conversation which has so many personal chats of the two will circulate soon.

Efforts to reach Stonebwoy proved futile as his phone has been off for quite some time now. In a telephone interview with Adez, she told this reporter that she has nothing to say about this case because she is not in the best of moods to do so. In her usual thin, sharp and communicable laughter, she said bye. Sources close to Adez, made the story two sided, until Derby, the prominent Ghanaian Promoter, revealed few about the story. “I have known Adez for a long time and she is so emotional about such things. It will break her heart so easily. How can you date your girlfriend’s cousin, who does that?” Derby asked.

Adez, who is in preparation for the birth of her album, is in a rehab. She wants to gain full recovery psychologically before her album hits the stores. Before the album gets to fans, Adez has released a song titled ‘Budiin’ which features Stonebwoy. The song talks much on her experience with Stonebuoy. Is it that Adez finds her rascal lover the best to tell the story of their life or it is a piece of advice using their life as an essential example for others not to repeat such mistake? In the song, Stonebuoy apologies for his wrong do whilst Adez laments about the whole incidence. Unless you listen to the song, do not judge Stonebwoy as a cheat.

Delay Strip In Italy

Ghanaian showbiz personality, Delores Frimpong-Manso, popularly known as Delay, is reported to be involved in a secret strip-tease business in Milan, Italy.

“I saw her myself. I was in a club at Corso Buenos Aires and she was there with three other girls. They were all dancing strip tease and I gathered that was why she slimmed down so as to boost her market,” a source from Milan told News-One.

When Delay was contacted by the paper and asked whether she was recently in Milan, her response was positive. She was then asked if she ever visited a club at Corso Buenos Aires and again her response was positive. The paper then asked if the club was a strip club and suddenly Delay was furious and said the paper should direct the questions to her lawyer.

Meanwhile, Delay, on her trip to Milan, did not travel with her lawyer. She later sent a text message to the paper’s Editor threatening to go to court if the paper went ahead with the story.
As at the time of going to bed with the story, Delay had still not provided an answer on whether or not she indeed stripped and danced in the club.

News-One checks revealed that Delay is a very close friend to a popular celebrity who owns a night club in Accra and that night club is known for organizing strip teases at its VIP section.

Indeed the owner of the said club is herself a former sex dancer.
Though not confirmed beyond doubt, the owner of the said club and Delay are said to have taken a couple of Ghanaian girls to Milan and given them to agents who recruit them for the strip tease business.
At age 28 plus, Delay insists she is still a virgin. By all standards, she is an accomplished lady for her age. She has a mid morning show on radio and has a talk show on three television stations.

She also goes by the name ‘Efia Targor’ and is not a pushover in celebrity circles. News-One can confirm she has bought a house at East Legon in Accra and has just bought a new ride, a 2006 Infiniti QX56 4x4 which is yet to be registered.

The former student of Aburi Girls Senior Secondary School is currently a level 400 student pursuing Business Administration, Marketing option at the Methodist University. She runs the Smooch Fashion Boutique in Accra and owns a production company.
Rumours say she is coming out soon with a TV reality show one of these fine days, and has asked all her fans to keep their fingers crossed for another bang.

The last time she was in the news, Delay was reported as having thrown a challenge to any man who has had sex with her to own up.
Interestingly, no one has come out to dispute her claims.

Castro In Juju Scandal

Hip-life artiste Theophilus Tagoe, who goes by the showbiz name Castro, is reported to have gone in for a very potent juju, a spiritual charm, to help advance his music career.

Castro, who won the hearts of music fans the world over with his hit track, ‘African Girls’, in which he featured soccer hero Asamoah Gyan, was reported to have gone for the juju from a powerful female spiritualist at Madina Zongo in Accra.

He was said to have obeyed all the ‘juju rules’ and presented a bottle of good quality foreign schnapps, confectionaries for ‘sadaka’ and a cash amount.

The hiplife musician was reported to have personally made an undertaking to reward the spiritualist with a cash amount of GH¢500 in addition to other assorted items if the juju worked in his favour.
Things however got out of hand and the otherwise secret ritual became public when Castro, after the juju, did not pay the GH¢500 to the spiritualist as promised, also refusing to pick her calls.

The seemingly peeved spiritualist therefore gave the musician an ultimatum to pay the amount or she would go public with their undertaking. She said if Castro still failed to pay the money after the issue went public, she would leave him to his own fate and destiny.

Though the management of Castro had refused to talk to News-One about the matter, the musician himself was in the studios of Okay FM for what seemed like a blame-shifting interview with ace presenter Abeiku Santana.

When Abeiku asked Castro about the incident, he said though the issue was true, he was not the one who went to the spiritualist and that a close friend did it on his behalf.

Castro revealed that it was the same friend who introduced him to the spiritualist but admitted that the rituals were done with his consent.
Interestingly, Castro denied that the rituals done were ‘juju. He said the place was more of a Christian church than a fetish shrine although the items that were used in the said rituals included a bottle of good quality foreign schnapps.

Snoop Dogg Arrestd For Weed

Snoop Dogg isn’t the only canine with a nose for weed … TMZ has learned the rapper was ARRESTED in Texas this weekend after a drug-sniffing dog uncovered marijuana on his tour bus.

Law enforcement sources tell us … Snoop’s tour bus was stopped at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca — a small town in West Texas where Willie Nelson was popped for weed back in 2010.

It’s all pretty ironic — considering Snoop RAILED against cops in 2010 for arresting the country singer, claiming, “They better leave Willie the f**k alone.” (video below)

We’re told the border patrol ran a standard inspection of the bus with the dog … when the animal alerted the agents to a possible hit in a waste basket in the back of the vehicle.

Happy B'Day! Beyoncé and Jay-Z Welcome a Daughter—and Her Name Is...

Beyonce, Jay-Z
We were so ready for this belly, and now we're so psyched to meet this baby!
Beyoncé and Jay-Z welcomed a daughter on Saturday night in New York, the little one's arrival coming via scheduled C-section, mutliple sources confirm to E! News
And the pop 'n' hip-hop princess' name? Drumroll, please...

Blue Ivy Carter! (At least that's what Jay-Z is telling pals at this point—the couple's reps have not immediately responded to calls seeking comment.)
Friend and music mogul Russell Simmons was among the first to celebrate the arrival, tweeting the new parents: "congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z."
Rihanna gave baby Blue a warm welcome, tweeting: "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih."
Hey, we're happy to find out this much, considering Blue's parents didn't even confirm to the world that they were married until...Wait? Did they ever really confirm it? (Public records ultimately told the tale.)
Anyway, the "Crazy in Love" duo tied the knot in April 2008 after roughly six years of dating. Considering they waited another three years to have a baby, you can tell this is one couple that thinks things through!
Beyoncé memorably revealed that she was pregnant onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards in August.
And her hubby certainly seems to be in the right head space, telling E! News in November that he hoped to be the kind of father whose children could talk to him about anything.
"Your child could come to you and have any type of conversation. I always hope for that kind of open relationship," he said.
Just imagine the rap sessions father and daughter will be having a few years from now!
